Wednesday 13 October saw the second outing for our Ladies 2nd team in the Ipswich and District Winter Floodlit League match, playing against Ipswich at home in Sax, writes team captain Nicole Hobson.
Two pairs make up each team of four in this league, and last night saw the pairing of Fran and Barbara, and myself and Nicky.
It was another lovely evening of tennis, set against mild and pleasant autumnal weather.
We ended up winning 5-3 overall - a great result for our second match. We played in good spirits, not quite matched by our Ipswich opponents, but we sure had fun, which is what this team's ethos is all about.
And the drama didn't end with the scoreline...
Towards the end of the evening, we were stopped in our tracks, alarmed to hear the distinct sound of gushing water... Getting straight on the phone to Fiona on an emergency SOS call - who else? - we were relieved to discover it was just the bowls club watering their lawn, activated by a one-off timer setting prior to reseeding. Stand down everyone!
The Ladies 2nd team will be playing their third match next week, good luck to the two teams of Fran and Sheila, and Nicky and Shirley.
