Box League intra-club tournament
What is it?
Box League is an intra-club tournament available for all Saxmundham Tennis Club members to enter, starting on Saturday 1 May 2021.
It takes a round robin format and winners of the group will go into the Finals Day which will be held on Sunday 12 September 2021.
Box League categories
Senior Singles (60+ for male or female)
With the addition of trophies there is even more of an incentive to enter this year, however the Box League will continue the tradition of just getting players on court, mixing games with people you might not normally play with, and being a fun tournament for players of all abilities. Can we beat the number of 50 participants that signed up last year?
How it works
Singles or doubles players of any level of ability can enter. Groups of singles players will be smaller this year to guarantee the completion of all matches, but there is no limit on the number of pairs that can enter. The Box League will run from 1 May until 15 August, so every player has plenty of time to fit in matches, roughly equating to one match a month, per competition entered.
How to enter
Please email Matt (head coach) at firstname.lastname@example.org. When entering, please stipulate who your intended partner is or if you’d like to be allocated a partner at random. All entries need to be in before 18 April, please. The entry fee is £2.50 per player for singles or £2.50 per pair for doubles, which will go towards trophies.
Details on how to pay will be published here soon.
Format and rules
As a Box League competitor you must organise matches yourself, at your own leisure, so you will need to contact the other players in your group to arrange play. Contacts will be emailed out before the start of the competition.
Each match will be won by the first to win two normal sets, with two points going to the winner and a bonus point for the losing player or pair if they won a set.
No points can be claimed for unplayed matches so please play your matches before Sunday 15 August 2021.
All fixtures, results and tables will be published on this page once the competition is underway.
