Hi Henry, tell us a bit about your involvement with the club

I joined the club about 18 months ago having put down my racket for several years and have since been playing for the 2nd Team in the Summer League and 3rd Team in the Winter League, in addition to the intra-club Ladder League and Box League competitions.

"Tennis is a sport where the improvements are incremental, so just play to enjoy it and you’ll find yourself getting better as the time goes on."

What first attracted you to playing tennis?

As a child being inspired by watching Wimbledon on TV, and also seeing it as another

avenue to get out and play a sport with my friends.

Tell us about a few of your tennis successes…

Not sure there are enough successes to constitute ‘a few’ but I did win an in-house Boys'

Doubles tournament in High School several years ago, and more recently did top the table of

one edition of Saxmundham’s Ladder League 2nd division.

What would you say to anyone who wants to improve their game?

The club coach Matt puts on great sessions as a group or on an individual basis which really

help you refine your game, but as with any discipline it’s just about getting out there and

playing. Tennis is a sport where the improvements are incremental, so just play to enjoy it

and you’ll find yourself getting better as the time goes on.

What would you say to anyone who’s thinking of playing in league matches?

To not worry about the potential level and give it a go. Saxmundham is a very friendly

club with supportive members which creates a fun environment to play in.

And finally, name three things you love about playing tennis

The health benefits, the challenge of playing in different formats and conditions, and the

social side playing with friendly, like-minded people.

If you'd like to get involved in playing matches for the Men's 3rd team, please WhatsApp @Henry on the Sax Tennis WhatsApp chat, or email the club at club@saxtennis.co.uk.
