After two prior attempts being called off at the last minute - both thanks to heavy summer rain - finally, on a dry August night we got to play our match against East Bergholt at home.
But was it to be third time lucky?
Charlotte stepped in as a newcomer to league matches (well done, Charlotte!) as Jennie wasn't able to play, and paired-up with Shirley. They scampered about after every ball with tenacity and speed.
Sharon and Jill, meanwhile, were bestowed the crown of tie-break queens, unfortunately losing that particular battle, but they sure fought hard.
Our third pairing of Fiona and Fran tried to out-fox the strong opponents with spins and tricks.
Unfortunately, we lost, but it was a great game overall against a friendly opposition team. And, to top it off, we all enjoyed wonderful post-match chocolate brownies, courtesy of Fiona.
