Genuine sportsmanship, a balmy evening, and a terrific win for Ladies 2nd team

After the hurricane-type conditions of recent weeks, our Ladies 2nd doubles team, playing in this year's Ipswich and District summer league, were treated to a balmy, early summer evening in the return home match against East Bergholt.

Our visitors were, unfortunately, only able to field two pairs, so 6 sets were played in total.

However, we had a great evening with some really competitive tennis, some great rallies and, best of all, genuine sportsmanship.

Our team was made up of Fran, Cornelia, Fiona, Grace, Jennie and Nicky, with one pair sitting out each time.

We ran out 8-1 winners in the end, but the individual sets were much closer than this suggests.

All agreed that this was an excellent way to start the Bank Holiday weekend. We have a break of three weeks before our next match. Bring it on!
