Chris Poupard is the Chair of Saxmundham Tennis Club
Tell us a bit about your involvement with the club
I became a member in 2014 when we moved to Sax. I became the Vice-Chair in 2015, as no one else would volunteer, and then the then Chair resigned when her husband became ill, so I stepped in. I've been trying to find someone to take over ever since!
What first attracted you to playing tennis?
I have always loved racket sports.
Tell us about a few of your tennis successes…
Leading the club to win the Suffolk LTA community venue of the year in 2016 and
Suffolk LTA club of the year in 2019.
Much of this success is due to the appointment of, and support for, our coach, Matt.
What would you say to anyone who wants to improve their game?
Get some professional coaching.
And finally, name three things you love about playing
Serving an ace, hitting a passing shot, and trying to perfect a drop shot.
