60-second interview with Frances Paul, Chair of Saxmundham Tennis Club

Tell us a bit about your involvement with the club

I joined the club on my return back from living in London. The club was recommended to me as a friendly, welcoming place to play tennis - one person who loved playing here was my Mum.

What first attracted you to playing tennis?

I started to play tennis (of a sort) on the lawn with my parents who both used to play. I love the social side of doubles, and also the challenge of singles. What better way to take your mind off everything else that's going on, and just have fun?

Tell us about a few of your tennis successes…

I wouldn’t say I have had that many successes, but I did win a Nestle tennis tournament at school many, many years ago.

What would you say to anyone who wants to improve their game?

Join a friendly club like ours, and come along to one of Matt's group coaching sessions, they are great fun, then afterwards on a club night play with lots of different people and try out your new skills. Watch your confidence and enjoyment of the game grow.

And finally, name three things you love about playing

Being outside, the mental and physical wellbeing it gives me, and the friendship of people.
