Match report by Nicole Hobson, ladies 2nd team captain
On Friday 7 January 2022 we saw in the first game of the year with our ladies 2nd team playing an unexpectedly short home game against the Woodbridge ladies 2nd team, because after the first two sets our opponents decided to cease play due to our courts being so slippery.
Myself and Nicky, and our two opponents, were already in the clubhouse drinking coffee when they made the decision, but the scores - as far as we'd got with them - were Nicole and Nicky winning 6-1, 6-0 and Fiona and Shirley winning 6-4.
Meanwhile in Fiona and Shirley's second set, they were 4-0 up when their opponents conceded. To be fair, it was getting very, very cold.
Since then, the Woodbridge team has officially confirmed concession, so our Sax ladies 2nd team wins another game by default.
Here's to some milder weather, and longer games ahead.
