Fantastic campaign for the Men's 1 saw us clinch the Division 2 title and become the first squad in the Saxmundham men's section history to be promoted to division one!

Season Overview
Tough start to the season saw us secure a fantastic away draw on an AstroTurf surface we historically always struggle on. Getting this early point spurred us on to bag four straight victories in a row and finish the first half of the season in sublime fashion and at the summit of div 2.
Second half mirrored the first with yet another draw with Ipswich, hats off to them for being the only team we didn't beat this season with both matches being a great sporting affair with very little between the teams. It wasn't going to be seven heaven either as we finally let the unbeaten record go in a feisty encounter away to Sproughton.
Luckily turned out to only be a blip in the campaign as we finished the season emphatically winning 22 out of the final 24 sets to clinch three wins in a row and end the season as clear winners.

The Players
Andrew Skitch - 1 appearance winning all four sets played this season
Anthony Tolman - 9 appearances winning the most sets in the team with 28/36 leaving him with an imperative 78% sets won percentage. Also won most games winning 219/352 (62% win rate)
Chris Hirst - 7 appearances and was part of the most successful pairing with Anthony, together they won 19/24 sets giving them a supreme 79% win rate.
Ewan Threadkell - 8 appearances and first season at this level, dealt with it in his stride as he continues to impress usually beating players twice his age.
Ian Portal - 5 appearances and first campaign for Saxmundham. Brilliant asset to the club ending up with the highest individual sets won percentage of 85%! (17 out of 20 sets won!)
Matt Last (Captain) - Played in all ten games ending up as second highest number of sets won and part of a successful pairing with Ewan. Also formed a dominant paring with Ian with a lethal sets won percentage of 88%!

What Next?
Looking forwards to our first season in Div 1 next winter however in the meantime we will aim to continue the march upwards in the summer league.
