Our Men's 1st team have secured their third title in as many campaigns by clinching the Ipswich & District fourth division. It was certainly not the most straight forward of seasons, however, the end result was seven wins out of eight to win the league by four points.
Fixtures made for tricky availability throughout the summer, leading to no less than 15 playing filling one of the six spaces needed each match, which also led to 15 different partnerships being formed!
A big thanks to the full 15 that played which were; Anthony, Chris, Ewan, Ian P, Ian F, David, Drew, Andrew, Cameron, Martin, Stuart, Roger, James, Dom and Matt.
Despite all the jumbling around with players, luckily results were rarely affected, with the team winning 72% of the total sets we played; it took a very strong home Stowmarket team to inflict the teams only defeat of the season.
This season also saw three players go the full season without dropping a set, with the captain (Matt) winning 24/24 sets, Ewan 18/18 sets and Chris 12/12. A big shout out must go to Anthony, who also came close to this, winning 17/18 sets.
This season also saw Cameron make his first team debut, surely a first of many more to come in the future for Sax's newest young gun.
