Play Your Way To Wimbledon Area Finals - Cromer 13th July
Eight men's pairs from across Cambridge, Norwich and Suffolk traveled North with there eyes firmly fixed on booking there place at Wimbledon.

Ewan (the slightly taller one) and Matt started the day praying for a relief in the weather, waking up to pretty miserable constant drizzle (don't think I've been to Cromer on a day it hasn't rained to be honest....). With abit of a delay and a sadly sensible decision to not play on the grass, the Sax pair kicked off the days play against familiar faces and a pair from Stowmarket. Strong showing from Sax lead to a mostly comfortable match, winning 4v0 4v2 however was a shaky moment in the second set with the pair going 2v0 down and the third game then being saved on a sudden death point!
Next up was a very strong pair from Ely. A fantastic match that ended up 4v2 4v3(7v3 in the tiebreak). Nothing much separated the pairs with pretty much every game in the second going to a sudden death deuce.
Final was a brilliant match however our streak would come to an end with a 4v2 4v2 lose, with the winning pair progressing to Wimbledon at our expense. Enjoyable day of tennis, topped off with an athletes supper on the way home which defiantly wasn't a McDonald's........
Watch out for Play Your Way To Wimbledon next year, with Ladies and Mens Doubles available plus boys and girls singles. A fantastic tournament which all starts at the club with winners then progressing to regional finals and then onto Wimbledon!
